Primary School
The French Stream of the Swiss School of Singapore applies the French-speaking school convention adopted by the CIIP (Conférence Intercantonale de l’Instruction Publique de la Suisse romande et du Tessin) in June 2007.
The Plan d’Etudes Romand (PER) https://www.plandetudes.ch/ defines the global project of student education adopted by all French-speaking cantons in Switzerland. Our stream works in close collaboration with our partner canton, Valais, in terms of programs, teaching resources and pedagogical orientations.
We consciously use differentiated, cooperative and student-based forms of learning. The children experience meaningful learning by being able to actively set goals, create their own ideas and work out solutions to achieve their aims and objectives. We are convinced that learning experiences are particularly joyful when the children are given the opportunity to pursue their interests and talents and are able to demonstrate what they enjoy.
In the Primary Section, we accompany and support children from Kindergarten to P6 (8H) through their individual learning path. Our teaching methodology values that children are cared for in an age appropriate way and according to their needs and abilities. This approach enables the children to take over responsibility for their actions and learning step by step. We have become an individualizing school that introduced mixed-age learning in double classes from Primary 1 onwards.
After the 8H, the children are well prepared and strengthened by positive learning experiences, in order to successfully continue their further education at any French-speaking school in Switzerland or international school.
All Kindergarten students of the Les Oliviers Montessori School in Singapore get waived off the registration fee by entering our Primary 1 (1H) with effect from 4 September 2020.
