Primary 1 & 2 (3H/4H)

Our school welcomes children who respectively turn six or seven before 31 August of the current school year. Our language of instruction is French following the Plan d’Études Romand (official program for the French-speaking region of Switzerland). The Primary 1 & 2 corresponds to the third and fourth year (3H/4H) of the Primary Cycle in the Swiss School system.

The main objective in the field of language is to learn and optimize reading and writing while developing the ability to understand and express oneself orally and in writing in a comprehensible way in the French language. Learning the basics of handwriting is also an important objective of our school. Another focus is working with literature. Our students benefit from our holistic approach to literature, which includes visits of authors, library visits and the lending of French books.

In mathematics, the main areas are Space, Numbers, Operations, Quantities & Measurements and Research & Strategies.

Two English lessons and one Science lesson in English are also an integral part of our weekly timetable delivered by native English-speaking teachers. These classes are held in half groups and address practical science topics to reinforce English language learning.

In addition to these subjects, we offer a holistic educational program, which includes music, arts and crafts, artistic design, sports and swimming. Our annual Project Week, which is held in age-mixed groups, culminates our versatile and creative learning programmes that we offer.

In Primary 1, students receive a final school report without marks at the end of the school year. There is a parents’ talk to inform the parents about the children’s learning status. In Primary 2, an interim report is given out after the first semester and a final school report is handed over at the end of the school year. Additionally, there is one parent talk per school year.
