Primary 3 & 4 (5H/6H)
At the ages of eight and nine, we welcome students to the third and fourth class of our French Stream, which corresponds to the fifth (5H) and sixth (6H) of the Primary Cycle in the Swiss School system. Our language of instruction is French and the curriculum follows the Swiss Romand Study Plan (PER).
In both grades, we focus on different areas of the language: The main aim is to guide students to read texts independently and to strengthen their vocabulary, grammar and conjugation skills. The school´s own library also guarantees the lending of French books.
In mathematics, the focus is on numbers up to 1,000 and on solving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems. The aim for our students is to make the best use of the mathematical concepts and argumentation.
Three English lessons and two Science lessons in English are also an integral part of our weekly timetable delivered by native English-speaking teachers. These classes are held in half groups and address practical science topics to reinforce English language learning.
In addition to these subjects, we offer a holistic educational program, which includes music, arts and crafts, sports and swimming. Our students also take part in an annual class trip to Malaysia.
Our students are assessed in all subjects and receive an intermediate report at the end of the first semester and an annual report at the end of the school year. There´s one parents talk per school year.
