At Swiss School in Singapore (SSiS), our English curriculum for Primary School is based on the National Curriculum in England’s English Programmes of Study for Key Stages 1 and 2. We have adapted the curriculum to meet the needs of our students and the multicultural, international environment of Singapore.
English is an important part of learning across the Swiss primary school curriculum. In addition to dedicated English lessons, subjects such as Science are taught immersively in English, giving students regular opportunities to develop their language skills in meaningful, real-world contexts.
Throughout their primary school years, students strengthen their English language, communication, reading and writing skills, learning to communicate confidently, effectively and purposefully in English both inside and outside the classroom. This strong foundation in English supports students in their future education and helps prepare them for a smooth transition to United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA) after Grade 6.
