Kindergarten 1 & 2
Children from four years of age can attend either our Playgroup II classes or our Kindergarten 1. Together with the Kindergarten 2, children in Kindergarten 1 are led by two German-speaking teachers in mixed-aged classes. The Kindergarten serves as preparation for the Primary 1 class and is open for children who turn four/ five years old before 31 August.
The children are introduced in a playful way to the independence required for school life and are instructed in German. In addition to the intensive exposure in German, English is integrated into both Kindergarten years with five lessons per week. We offer English Support and English Enrichment to meet the different needs of the children in English acquisition.
The Kindergarten routine includes a weekly swimming lesson, early musical education, exploring our library, physical education as well as the visit of the playground. During the Friendship Morning, children from all Kindergarten classes mingle, experience adventures together and make new friendships.
Highlights of Kindergarten calendar are the Fun Sports Day, the Deepavali Celebration (Indian Festival of Lights), the Advent Celebration, the Chinese New Year Festivities, the project week with the children of Primary 1/2 and last but not least, the Summer Night Event. Boredom is completely unheard of in the Kindergarten of the Swiss School in Singapore.
Playgroup II children can profit of the optimal and optional Full Day Offer (FDO) or Extra Curricular Activities from Monday to Friday 1.45pm to 3.20pm.
Our FDO takes place in English on Mondays & Fridays and in German on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Attendance on all days is mandatory and serves as preparation for Kindergarten 2.
Pupils can use our Lunch Service, which is supervised by SSiS teachers/staff, if they participate in an afternoon activity.
