The Kindergarten takes a year and serves as preparation for Primary 1. The Kindergarten is open to children who are five years old before August 31.
The language of instruction is German. The children are introduced in a playful way to the independence required for school life. Besides intensive fostering in German and English, basic mathematics are taught. However, play is the core activity.
The Kindergarten routine includes a weekly swimming lesson, early musical education, exploring our library, physical education as well as the visit of the playground. During the Friendship Morning, children from both Kindergarten classes mingle, experience adventures together and make new friendships.
Additionally, once a week the children attend a morning in half classes in the English Kindergarten. We offer English Support and English Enrichment to meet the different needs of the children in English acquisition.
Highlights of Kindergarten calendar are the Sports and Fun day, the Deepavali Celebration (Indian Festival of Lights), the Advent Event, the Chinese New Year Festivities, the project week with the children of Primary 1/2 and last but not least, the Summer Night Event. Boredom is completely unknown in the Kindergarten of the Swiss School in Singapore.
Kindergarten children can profit of the optimal and optional Full Day Offer on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8.30am until 3.20pm. Attendance on all three days is mandatory. This programme is taught in German as preparation for Primary 1 and runs in addition to the regular lessons from 1.45 until 3.20pm. In combination with our Extra Curricular Activities students may stay at school for five days per week from 8.30am until 3.20pm. Pupils can use our Lunch Service, which is supervised by SSiS teachers/staff, if they participate in an afternoon activity.
