I joined the Swiss School Committee in April 2021. I’m a Swiss citizen, who has been living in Singapore for more than thirty years. I’m a civil engineer by training and worked as technical manager for an international construction company until my retirement in 2019. I’m married to Grace, who is from Singapore. We have two grown up children, who did their entire schooling at the Swiss School and the UWCSEA. I acted as project manager on behalf of the Swiss School for the construction of almost all building infrastructure the school is presently using. I also served previously in the committee from 2001 , when bilingual teaching was introduced and the Swiss School stopped its secondary school classes and started its cooperation with UWCSEA to be able to still offer by the Swiss government recognized secondary school education and to give its students the option to complete schooling in Singapore with an IB diploma.
The Swiss School and UWCSEA were great places for my two children to be educated at. They got very well prepared to pursue successfully their tertiary education in the UK and the US. I therefore didn’t hesitate to join the committee again, when the previous president approached me at the beginning of this year.
