We have three children (ages 7, 4 and 2) at the Swiss School – they are in Primary 1, Playgroup 1 and Little Tots. As parents, we are South African/British and German. Our kids were born in Kenya, Germany and Switzerland. So being a bit of a mixed origins family, we were open to any of the international schools. We liked the way the Swiss School focuses on standard German and English, which are the two languages we speak at home.Other points that drew us to the Swiss School was the setting – its non-intimidating buildings are surrounded by lush greenery – and the fact that it was a small school. We felt welcomed from day 1.
All three of our children have flourished at the Swiss School. They have all become less shy and more social, they are more comfortable doing group activities and they happily get on the bus each morning to go to school. They have each had fantastic teachers from day 1, this is something we are very grateful for – our children are learning facts and figures, social behaviours and most importantly, how to play and be creative in so many ways. We also like the more gentle approach when it comes to teaching reading, writing and maths. Our eldest has come along in leaps and bounds and is enjoying it along the way. We hope that he stays as keen as he is!
Our children have made lots of friends from all walks of life, and we have met many great mums and dads, some of which I’m sure we will stay friends with forever.
The school is truly a happy place for our children and that makes us happy.
